Hi folks...happy Friday! As a rule when I send out bulletins I just let them fly as is from the "Send" link. However I now have an occasion where I would like information to accompany the bulletin and thought I could add comments to the email itself but I don't see any way of doing that? If it cannot be done no worries, I can just PDF the bulletin and attach/send it through "Email Services" rather than direct from the Bulletins module. But if there is a way that I'm missing I would love to know what it is....thanks to all you wonderful people at ClubRunner, don't know what this long-time Secretary would do without it.

    Hi Dianne,

Thank you for posting, and happy Friday to you!

Could you please provide a bit more info about "information to accompany the bulletin"? There's some options in the bulletin itself, here are two:

    1. You can add a "Bulletin Download file": for example a PDF or MS Word doc, when the user clicks on it in the bulletin, it will download to their device. I'd recommend a PDF as lots of bulletin readers use their phone. A PDF will open on most devices, including phones, but MS Word docs might need a special phone app.

Look for the "Download Files" widget description.

    2. If you just need to pass on a bit of text or images, you can input a "custom widget" into your bulletin. Think of this as a blank section you can fill in any way with text or images. A custom widget "global" can be re-used in other bulletins; a custom widget "bulletin specific" is found only on that bulletin you're working on.

Some of our clubs add items like a PDF restaurant menu, event address info, a poster for an event (standard jpeg), etc., all into their bulletins.

If this doesn't answer your question please post again.

Thanks Mickey, I knew what I meant :p I just didn't explain it very well there. I wound up generating the bulletin as a PDF and then created an email within ClubRunner, provided the supplementary info (something I normally wouldn't do but needed to here) and attached the PDF. I think my question really is....can I do that in one step within the Bulletin module itself, before sending it, without having to add it to the bulletin directly. It was really no big deal to do it in the 2 steps if there isn't, but if there is something that I'm missing I would love to know what it is. Thanks again as always! 2024 Sep 20 CR email to accompany board meeting highlights bulletin.png 2024 Sep 20 CR email to accompany board meeting highlights bulletin.png
