Has anyone crested a custom page lately?

I am beginning to receive a lot more contributions for publication on our District homepage, whilst this is a good thing not all items are suitable for homepage viewing, but can be accomodated on a custom page with a link from the home page, such as click >> HERE which I do use quite often.
This is where I am having a problem, indexing or linking seamlessly to a custom page.

It is most probably very simple, if anyone has done this successfully I would appreciate the help.

Could I ask if one of the moderators could take a look at the custom page I have tried to create, and possibly point me in the right direction please?
    Thank you in anticipation.

    Chris.
Not lately but I went back through my club custom page library (find it under New Website (Beta)) and found one I did on Hazardous Waste Day in 2015. It has a URL in which case a "HERE" link can be placed anywhere. However, I placed it in a widget on the home page in the main column.

When I clicked on Home Page Widget library the page was also there, so I went to the Website Designer and found it, which means it was once on the Home page. (you can also find where it was located by clicking on edit) I could also have just put the graphic in a widget on a column and linked that to the Custom Page.

I also discovered under Website there are two lists of Custom Pages one titled "Global Custom Widgets" and another called "Custom Widgets for Home Page"

I do not know if that any of that helps.

I did take a look at your District Home page but I could not identify where the one you created might be.

Thank you John for your prompt reply.
I will follow your lead and see how it pans out. It seems a little clearer now.
Because of the setup I used it most probably is not visible to you.
I have just begun linking info from my club site, (Waratah) to our district site with a special story on peace.
It really is a good challenge.
Let you know how I go.
    Chris

    Hello Chris,

You can create a link to pages or other items by using the "Link" icon in the Online Editor (The Online Editor is found in Custom widgets, Stories, email, and more). To learn how to do this, please click on the following link:

    https://www.clubrunnersupport.com/article/791-how-do-i-add-a-link

If you would like to edit the Club's website menu bar, please click on the following link to learn how:

    https://www.clubrunnersupport.com/article/801-building-the-navigation-menu

By using the New Website Designer or New Bulletin, you can use "Preformatted" widgets to make the website or bulletin look better. One of these widgets is the "Single Button Widget". You can use this Single Button widget as a link to allow the person to be directed to a different page. To use this widget please follow the steps below:
    1. From the "Member Area", click "New Website" on the blue menu bar.
2a. Click "Home Page Designer" if you want to add it to the home page
2b. Or click "Custom Page Library" to edit an existing page.
2c. Or click "Create New Page" to create a new custom page.
    3. Once you end up on the "Design" page, please look for the "Single Button" widget. Click and drag the widget onto the page.
    4. Hover over top of the button and click on the gear icon. This will allow you to change the options for the button.

Chris, if you would like me to look into the page for some more assistance, could you please tell me the name of the page?

    Hello again,
I have attempted to follow the instructions, but have lost my way a little....
You will see that I have created a title Linked Custom pages which is no very imaginative, then added the file Rotary Club Of Charlestown Christmas Tree. I have left the the photo album too, with Charlestown Rotary again. A bit messy I know.
At least now you can see what I have tried to publish to the custom page, but still not quite there sending the information across, I think???

Let me know what you think?

Chris, I really can't figure out where the custom page is. However, if you give me access to your admin component I can look at it, see what you have done and advise you. To register me follow this path.
    Membership
    Member Lists
    Other Users List
Then Click on Add New Member
Make my name "Website (First)Advisor(Last)" with a login of "Website.Advisor". Under Type put "staff". Put in my real email address which is jborst807 [at] gmail. Most importantly give me an access level of 30 because I will need to look at your Website Designer. My Address is 57 Hill Rd. Dryden, Ontario, Canada, P8N 2Y4. Give me a password but since I won't know it, I can make one because my email is there.

Are you willing to do that?

I viewed the page and one thing I recommend to do is to hide the widget's titles. To do this, please follow the steps below:
    1. While editing the page, please hover over top of a widget and click on the "Gear" icon. This will take you into it's properties.
    2. Then uncheck "Show widget title".
    3. Click "Save".
You can do this for each widget if you like.

You could change the page template to just be one column, this way the column on the left would be gone. To do this, please follow the steps below:
    1. Please hover over top of the widget called "Christmas with Charlestown Rotary Exchange Students" and move it to the left below the widget with the green text "Exchange students with Charlestown Rotary Christmas Tree".
    2. Once the right column is empty, you can now change the page template. You can learn how by clicking on the following link:

    https://www.clubrunnersupport.com/article/924-content-template-in-clubrunner (Please skip steps 1 to 4)

Another thing you can try is the "New Website (beta)". Clubs and Districts who are using this find it easier and better than the old one. To access the New Website (beta), please follow the steps below:
    1. When in the "Member Area" click "New Website (beta)" on the blue menu bar near the top.
    2. Then select what you would like to do. For a custom page, you can click "Custom Page Library" or "Create New Page".

The New Website (beta) includes several new "Preformated widgets" which will you to format content on the page to make it look nicer.

If you would like other members to view the page you are working on, you could share the URL/Address of the page. This can be done when you are viewing the live page on the website, after it was linked in the menu or different area.

Thanks John, for offering to help Chris with his Custom Page.

Oh, Good grief, I looked at your Club page; no wonder I could not find it. Yes just follow David's advice and you are home free.

However, if you do not mind I would make some suggestions regarding the layout of your Custom page. I would suggest using a full page template to start. You have used three different titles, Make sure the one on the Home page widget is the same as the one on the Custom page.

To better organize your pictures use the set of four template. This permits you to add text but you do not have to. You can also delete the title. I think I would start with a short introductory text, Then four pictures. Make four that are exactly the same size. Use 400px width. The height can vary but all four in a set should be the same height to look good. Then more text and four more pictures again with the four pictures the same size. Then more text. And finally the last set of four. Note you have 14 pictures so eliminate two or alternatively add another set of four and modify it to a set of two by deleting the second row. It is also possible to make the previous set of four into a set of six.

Regarding the home page widget: insert a small cropped picture at about 150 pixels by 200 px and set it under the title. Put the link into the picture. Then take the widget and place it up above the calendar. So it is visible right away. Have fun!

Working slowly towards a resolution after John's assistance. I hope to have some more items setup soon.
Had to give it a miss last night as the Internet was back to dial up speed, could be the heavy rain and storms we were having.
Am I able to print these responses for future reference??

Chris do a copy and paste- Ctrl & A keys together to Copy, then open a Word document and Ctrl & V keys. (to paste) all the responses. Then save --- and store. I never print anything. No paper! (And I live in former Pulp and Paper town - now we only make Pulp and it goes to the USA where it gets turned into something that can't be digitized ...toilet paper! )

Another way is to take a screen shot of each item and store them in a folder or file - the two keys are the Microsoft Window icon and the key to the right of F12 which is PrtScr (PrintScreen).

Very close John, one small correction: Ctrl & A to highlight all, Ctrl & C to copy, open Word and Ctrl & V to paste.

Another option is to print the page as PDF. To do this, please follow the steps below:
    1. Right click on the page and select "Print...".
    2. Change the printer to "Save as PDF" or "PDF".
    3. Click "OK" and select where you would like to save it on the computer. This works very well for bulletins too.

    Thanks David,
I still like my piece of paper around, I can scribble all my notations as I go, and can refer back to them.
