Hello, among our CR users we have got a message from an iPhone 5 user with iOS 10.3.4 informing that his CR app does not work anymore. He has deleted the app and installed a new one, restarted the phone etc. Does any one have or heard about a similar problem?

    Hello Mats,

Thank you for reporting this issue to us, we’ve had a few other customers on older Apple devices reported similar issues.

We are going to investigate to see if there are any changes we can make to help address this. It is important to note that as Apple is no longer officially supporting that device, it may not be possible for us to fix the inability for older devices to run our app.

You can see a list of devices that are compatible with Apple’s currently supported iOS 13 version here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210327

Hello Zach, in CR's info on apple AppStore it says that the app minimum requirements is iOS 9.3. The phone the user has problems with runs 10.3.4, so from that perspective the app should work.

    Hello Mats,

We might still be able to support iOS 9.3 - but our mobile app team is looking into this, so I would defer to their expertise.

However in this case it's very likely we won't be able to support the iPhone 5 hardware model at all. iPhone 5's are no longer supported by Apple, meaning Apple has stopped providing updates to this phone altogether.

If the manufacturer no longer supports the hardware device, this typically means we can no longer safely support this device ourselves. In fact, your iPhone 5 user already has/or will slowly become locked out of certain Apple apps. iPhone 5's use 32-bit processors, all Apple devices since the iPhone 5S onward use 64-bit processors.

I will try to provide a further update once our DEV team evaluates. Please post here if you have more questions.

    Hello Mickey,
Thanks. I think it would be positive if your DEV team decided to change the info in Apple AppStore to a higher version number of iOS. It's no good idea to be on the lower edge of what might work.

    Hi Mats,

We do have some good news, we were able to identify why those older devices were unable to run the ClubRunner app. It appears that at some point Apple has changed how it includes device support when building the app, and the specific CPU's in iPhone 5's were moved out of the default build options. The app update was approved by Apple, and should be available in the app store within the next few hours. I would suggest having the individuals upgrade as soon as possible.

The bad news is that we may not be able to offer any new major updates to unsupported devices in the future.
