I am suddenly getting a slow response on the loading of the Club's website banner. It spends a couple of seconds out of focus. The number of seconds appear to vary.

I have tried to rebuild the banner. It is 960 by 233 pixels. I have tried replacing it with the May version and it happens then too. It did not happen during the May time period.

In a couple of attempts the banner picture arrived broken.

Can you please suggest what might be happening as I have not experienced this in the past. I have checked other ClubRunner sites and it is not happening on the them.

    Thanks.

John - I have had the same problem. Nothing has fixed it so leads me to believe it is on ClubRunner end.

    Hi Cheryl & John,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

We've been taking steps to improve how pages are delivered to end users. As a part of this, we are updating the system to use something called LazyLoading to help deliver images. A very short version of lazyloading is it gives you a much lower resolution placeholder image, until the image comes into view. In most cases this provides a moderate performance boost, in addition to a faster loading for most users.

When testing the new lazyloading with carousels we did not run into any issues like what we're seeing on your websites. I've logged an issue with our team to investigate and work towards improving how the carousels load.

    Hi John,
As of this morning, Thursday 16th July I am experiencing the same issue as my banner is a carousel.
A point of interest this also happens on my Windows 10 PC when first loading the original background picture.

    Hello Everyone,

I wanted to followup with some good news, our new Dynamic Carousel widget no longer has this issue, though the same fix has not been added to the classic carousel widget. I believe for most of your websites, you're still using the classic carousel widget.

I would suggest recreating your classic carousel as a new dynamic carousel widget, which should resolve the loading issue. This guide should help you get started: https://www.clubrunnersupport.com/article/1847-widget-dynamic-carousel

Please let me know how it goes, and if you have any further question.

We are getting the same effect at The Rotary Club of Glenferrie. So it looks like the change that ClubRunner has mad has actually slowed down the loading process, not improved it.

    Hi Richard,

    Thank you for following up.

The fastest resolution would be to switch to the new Dynamic carousel, as it has had its fixed applied and does not have the same issue. We'll also be looking to apply the fix to the Photo Carousel in a future update as well.

Let us know how the switch goes!

Just to follow-up on this, we have now applied the same fix to our Photo Carousel widget as well!

If you're still seeing this for any reason, please let our team know and we'll work with you to get it addressed.

I have been able to eliminate the problem by using the Dynamic carousel. Took me a little digging to know where to access it when I went from one month to the next for the first time. Now I know what to do. Thanks for the assistance.
