I am taking the liberty of sharing with this community my comments to ClubRunner on CDX2020. I would like to invite other participants to share their thoughts on the future of this new endeavour and way in which ClubRunner services we the users.

Dear ClubRunner staff (Halle, Jeff, Michael, Mickey, Omar, Zach, Maxim and Divya)

I very much enjoyed and appreciate the effort you put into this two day seminar. I think what you have started has great potential and will grow with time.

Some ideas you may consider for 2021 are:

Having us break into group sessions where we see each other for a discussion. This may present an opportunity to gather feed back of topics of concern to you for the future or to gage the extent of our understanding and questions on the topic you have just presented. We have groups during the pre-meeting phase of our Club meetings. I do not know if Zoom has that capacity at the scale you were working at.

I would in the future like to see a session/s on good website design. You could use examples from any area newspapers, small businesses plus good ClubRunner sites and then show how the design feature could be done with the ClubRunner widgets.

I would also like a session on SEO and using Google Analytics which has gotten away from me. It used to be simple clean and understandable. Now it is just complicated. Can you make it simple again?

Another topic could be how to spread the news. Likely most participants in this year’s session are or very near the group you call superusers. Hopefully, Districts could have them use Zoom to improve the sites of Clubs who for lack of interest or skill have not kept up their site or are not using it’s full capability to manage the club.

Also you might like to consider using members of the ClubRunner Community as guest presenters on topics for which they have developed some expertise and which may bring unique opportunities to expand the use of ClubRunner in the future.

Interestingly on a personal note I am in the process of writing a short paper I have titled “Future Ideas for ClubRunner”. The timing of CBX2020 was perfect because I am trying to reconceptualise the whole site and involve the club in its design rather than me do the whole thing unilaterally which has been my practice. I want to change the focus from what Rotary does in the community and our speakers as news to attract a local audience to membership growth as the prime focus. Currently it is in reverse.

Finally, you are to be congratulated in this initiative. ClubRunner’s support have always been there in human form when it is needed and is worth the subscription cost all by itself. CRX2020 just took it to a whole new level. Thanks for a job well done.

    Hello John,

Thank you very much for this valuable and thoughtful feedback. This feedback has been shared with our team, and we are evaluating this and all other user feedback for next year's conference. I personally like the idea of 'breakout (virtual) rooms' for more concentrated interactions, and it's something we'll be investigating for next year, as well as your other feedback too.

If anyone has more constructive feedback please feel free to share it here, your comments and suggestions will be shared with our team.
