We recently published a story in our club Bulletin and used on of the templates in the story brief section so that we could insert an image with a caption underneath. The bulletin story displayed ok in the desktop and tablet versions of the bulletin, but on mobile phone it went horribly wrong - see images attached. Can this be fixed please? Richard -
Just a tip: When its something technical and specific like this, you will get faster responses by opening up a ticket at ClubrunnerSupport.com. While their team does monitor the forums, their first priority response is through the support site.

From a high level guess: It may be how the picture was embedded into the story, rather than included as the thumbnail.

    Hello Richard and Bob,

Thank you both for posting. ClubRunner strives to offer timely responses to Community posts in the same manner as tickets. However Bob is correct in the fact that if you have a more specific technical issue we’d love to receive a ticket about it so we can take a closer look together.

In this case, Richard with your bulletin story “Scary Rotarians at Work” the HTML table inserted by our system works fine in Desktop/Mobile view, but less so on a mobile phone. This is a limitation of HTML tables (and something our team is looking to upgrade with a newer system called “Bootstrap”).

However at this time a bulletin story also has an extra factor: our system tries to limit the width to 600 pixels wide which is not a consideration for regular homepage stories. This is intentional, both for better mobile compatibility, and also to account for a user’s email folder structure usually found on the left side of their email program where many bulletins are read.

I hope you don’t mind, I made a minor layout change to your story - eliminating the HTML table. This simplified layout change should ensure the story displays correctly across all devices.

If you’re still having issues with this story, or either of you have more questions, please post again.

    Hi Mickey,
Thank you for the feedback. I took a look at the story and the amendment you have made is fine, although it doesn't group the wording around the image, which is the effect we desired. We have been able to achieve this in the past by just inserting the image into the story, left aligning it and then typing the text. The problem is that when adding a caption, the caption seems to end up in a variety of places when reproduced, depending upon the device used to access the bulletin.
The template feature would be useful if it can be adjusted so that it works okay on mobile phones, so I hope you are able to do that with Bootstrap. Thanks again.

    Hi Richard,

Adding captions to images isn't typically an issue - it's just that extra consideration of a 600 pixel width limit on top of that, in that case the more simple the design is, the better. Your original design looked nicer than mine on Desktop view - mine is just more mobile and '600 pixel width' friendly.

While I can provide no timelines or guarantees, I can let you know this reminder has sparked further discussion with our team about the need for more user-friendly Bootstrap support. Hopefully we will be implementing more features in the future.

If you have more questions don't hesitate to post again.
