District-wide custom fields

    I just discovered a great feature within the club version for creating custom fields in member records. Some other clubs in the district are using them.

    There are actually a couple of candidates I have for district-wide custom fields - info that is only relevant to our geography but relevant to all clubs in the district. Is there a way to create district-wide custom fields or any plan to add this feature?

    Mark your post would have more meaning if you supplied an example of what you are referring to in paragraph one and what you would call a geographic district-wide custom field in paragraph two.

    One example would be the holding of certificates that are relevant only to the country in which the district it finds itself. In Australia we have something called a blue card for child protection. Some subscriber clubs track that in Clubrunner.

    In general, the motivation for having district-wide custom fields is the same as the motivation for having custom fields within a single club.

    Hello Mark,

    I can confirm for you that we do not have a custom fields for district feature like the custom fields for club feature. However, the district does have two options to record additional data about members through the Designation system.

    There are two types of designations that the district can create to help record this data, designations for the entire district, and designations just for district staff to manage. Designations are only allowed to be modified by the staff at each level. District Wide designations allow all clubs' and district staff to manage their status on a member, and their details stored on it. The district only designations can only be managed through the district's website and their membership editors, club staff cannot manage them. Both types designations can be reported on through the club and district websites.


    Based on the suggested use case for certificates for child protection, it sounds like you might want the District Wide Designations option. This would allow all club's staff within the district to add and update this data on member profiles. But would not allow the regular members to modify their details.
