For several years, I used the ClubRunner bulletin function to publish a weekly meeting recap with a report on the speaker's presentation. Besides sometimes being a difficult task to make sense of what the speaker was trying to say ;), I began to see that some of our members were failing to attend meetings knowing that I would faithfully report on whatever the speaker said (so why bother to show up?).

I decided to reverse the process and produce a flyer that would go out ahead of the speakers with a short blurb on their topic, a photo and a link to a relevant website. I use the ClubRunner bulletin function to prepare a monthly flyer, schedule it to auto send weekly to members (including former members) and other interested parties. We continue to add the club Zoom link and have actually picked up 2 new and 1 returning member due to interest in the programs.

Nice! I find that it is always better to advertise meeting content before the meeting than after. I have never understood why Rotary thinks it is more important to write recaps than to interest the members to come to the meetings.
In my club we also started a newsletter that tells about what will come and have stopped making recaps. We gave it the byline ”the weekly newsletter that comes before”. It is very popular.
Some years ago we also started a district newsletter, sent to all members each Saturday, where all members in the district can study all of the clubs' meeting program coming week and read stories from the district's website. The list with the club programs, sadly to say, is a manual html copy the the calendar on the district's website, as CR has no function to automatically publish club meetings in a district bulletin. We have suggested that for years now, but no success...

Dennis, I love your idea of a monthly newsletter on the speakers for the month but, oh my, that old-dated Rotary logo has got to go! Sorry to post this, but I just can't understand why the old "Mark of Excellence" is still being used.
