Member Communication Settings

    We have a member in our club and as the Admin I have gone in under Update Email Preferences and checked the box Club Emails and then do Update Preferences. Works fine for a while but then it will just become unchecked so this person stops receiving emails. We are not experiencing this for other members (that we know of).

    We are using Nova.

    Hi Philip,

    If their email opt in status keeps changing then there are generally only three reasons that happens:
    • The member has gone into their profile and opted out of receiving emails
    • The member has clicked on the unsubscribe link within their email client that we send with almost all emails
    • The member, or someone who has access to their emails for example they were forwarded to someone, are clicking the unsubscribe link and completing the process

    I think the first case is unlikely, this would be the member themselfs or an administrator changing it directly. The second case is more likely, in that it is possible they're clicking the link and not understanding the impact. The third is possibly the most likely. Just last week we had this case come up twice, where someone was forwarding emails they received to external parties, and those parties were unsubscribing them.

    If you would like we can review the logs and confirm where the action is being carried out: through the profile or via the links.
