I am tasked with creating a board presentation on converting to NOVA and would love to hear experiences (good and bad) with the conversion process so I can give our leadership team a realistic view of how the conversion will proceed. We are in Silicon Valley (Cupertino) so we many of our members and leaders are familiar with software conversions and issues that arise, so I want to give them a realistic picture. Feel free to respond to the thread or email me directly at stuartr52@gmail.com. Thanks

    Hi Stuart,

I can at least share from our side of things that the vast majority of clubs who convert to Nova are very happy. There can be a little bit of a learning curve as some things are new and others are different. For example in our email system, the biggest change for most users is the order which you select recipients. In Classic you can expand groups, and view the popup to select individual's, where as under Nova, you first add the group, then you can filter it and select/remove people who should be included. This is one of the items that some users struggle with, normally after we work with them to go over the process they are pretty happy with the improved functionality. For example that when you schedule an email under Nova using our Smart Lists, that list will remain dynamic until the very last moment before the email sends. Ensuring that if anyone new got added to the list is included, which is a huge upgrade from Classic. Under Classic ClubRunner, we always dropped people out based on unsubscribed, or no longer being in the list, but we were unable to include new persons into that list once scheduled.

We're working to make club versions of these articles as well, but District Nova has similar features to Club Nova: https://www.clubrunnersupport.com/kb/articles/nova-whats-new-for-district-administrators-in-nova and https://www.clubrunnersupport.com/kb/articles/video-nova-whats-new-in-nova-for-districts
For clubs, you would ignore the groups functionality, managing permissions, and business directory, as these are district only changes. How you change permissions is the same for Clubs when compared to Classic, but changed for districts to match the club flow of changing it directly in their profile. Though I think for yourself it will still help understand the changes that have come to ClubRunner for Nova.

There have been a few clubs who did request to downgrade after migrating, most of these were related to an administrator processing the request without discussing it with the club first or due to in progress billing cycle. All of the clubs that I am aware of that did request a downgrade have since moved back to Nova.

I hope these comments help, and that others are able to share their experiences with you, and if you have any further questions let us know.
