    Hi,

Often we have a large number of photos to upload to a Photo Album and each time we have to edit each file to give it a 'Title'. It would be very helpful to be able to upload a number of photos and have the option to allocate a title to them all at the time of upload. Often we use the title to refer to the occasion, with each photo therefore having the same title, and differentiate each image using the description field.

Richard, I am a bit confused about what you wish of ClubRunner. I reviewed your 2020-2021 Photo Album. [Changeover (date), Bread run (date), Farmers' Market (date), Christmas Picnic (date) Christmas at Boroondara Market Hawthorne (date)] Do you wish the title 2020-2021 Photo Album on each photo as they are being uploaded from your computer or do you wish to be able to put one of the sub-titles above in automatically. As a Work Around I would suggest using a photo editor to place the title on each photo or better still some kind of logo symbolizing the event. My practice is to create a photo album of an event and then insert a very short description. As yours stands now, I can't read across the description before it disappears. I think you can adjust the time span of the photo album.

As an aside I was looking at some of your stories and some of the thumbnail pictures are broken - meaning I suspect they have been removed from the ClubRunner hosted library. Also, the story on hats the six pictures did not appear. Hope you did not mind me sharing that information.

Thank you for your response John. The titles currently showing for each photo are as we wished, however to achieve that I had to open each photo after uploading them, and manually insert the title into the 'Title' field. Very time consuming.

What I would like to be able to do is have the option of populating the 'Title' field for all the photos being uploaded at the time of uploading. That would save an enormous amount of time and effort. I am not sure how a photo editor could achieve that for us?

We use the Description field to differentiate the photos within an upload.

With regard to the disappearing thumbnails and photos, yes you are correct. That arose because the authors did not follow the protocols we have established for managing images. The protocols we have established is that images/photos we wish to retain are uploaded to a photo album. Images uploaded to 'My Images', or cut and pasted into stories directly and automatically filed in 'My Images', are periodically cleaned out because they are meant to be temporary. We find that with the 'My Images' folder, if it is not managed closely, can soon fill up with 'junk' images, making it impossible to find anything.

Thanks for the explanation, Richard. I have not used a photo album in a while but I have just made a dynamic carousel and addressed the issues you outline. Here are some ways to shorten the workload although having the ability to just put a name in once is definitely better. I resize my pictures to a uniform size before uploading them and give them the same name with the addition of a number. eg. pancake breakfast 1.jpg etc. That way when they load the Title is already there "pancake breakfast". Then when you go in and add a description you also edit the title by deleting the # and .jpg. Another way is to insert a logotype title on the picture and place your descriptor where the title would be. That is even faster. You can see an example at International Projects | Rotary club of Dryden (drydenrotary.org) (scroll to the lower part of the page).

With respect to the Image library, your practice strikes me as unnecessarily burdensome. It is possible to have multiple folders to keep your photos organized although I have never used it and have never worried about multiple copies although sometimes I do take unnecessary one out when they are not used. We have about 2000 images in the library and find that the search feature is excellent at finding pictures you may wish to reuse. Using and creating photo albums is too slow and awkward. You can upload multiple images to the library at one time so I see no advantage to the photo albums.

Many thanks John. Interesting workaround that I will keep in mind. By and large I like the ClubRunner function, but it does need some improvement. The approach I suggested was actually an approach adopted by Kodak Easyshare back in the 90s (or maybe the early 2000s) for titling photos when uploading them, so it is not a new approach. Hopefully ClubRunner will take notice as it is an opportunity to make the product more user friendly. Many thanks once again.

    Hi Richard & John,

Thank you for your feedback about the photo album module and how it works. I've let the product team know that you are looking to be able to mass set & edit titles when adding and managing the albums. Being able to make more bulk changes to the photo albums would speed up that job!

    Hi Zach
Did anything come of this. I wonder whenever I'm uploading bulk photos and have to go through the process of labelling every one.

    Hi Richard,

The feedback was reviewed by the product team, and it is under consideration for future updates. I do not have any additional information at this time about when or if such functionality will become available.
