Can I place a custom code in the head and body tags for a chat feature in a ClubRunner site?

    I discovered a free chat widget (?) at tawk.to. Can its code be placed on the home page and/or an individual page of a ClubRunner site?

    You should be able to place that code into a custom meta tag via the website settings. However I would strongly encourage you to be careful when using free services, especially if that free service is adding code to your website. The code you're adding may allow them to gather data from the visitors to your website, and you may need to disclose this in the club's privacy policy.

    Thanks Zach. I haven't done anything with this feature yet. I did have a chat with a person at tawk.to which I thought was situated in the UK and then got transferred by phone to a person at WordPress support in California. I do know that they do track data from the chat as you get a dashboard with analytics on visitors, pages etc. I asked her if you could place the code inside a widget and she said yes. My thinking now is to place it on the pages about joining. I also learned that Google Analytics has a plug-in that actually tells you a person's e-mail address. Of course, it costs money.

    I also want to get to work on ClubRunner's beta membership template, if that is the correct term.

    Your response also flags for me the club's privacy policy. I do not know if we have one. I know we do practice one. Are we supposed to have one specifically about our website? Does it have to be publically available on the website? If so does ClubRunner provide a template? If not, does any member here have one they can share?

    Zack, I have already gone through the process of registering for the membership success material with Shawn. I completed it in November. I just haven't followed-up and delved more deeply into it. Can you supply a couple of sites who are using it well?

    Zack, I didn't even know the page with policy was on the site. I have added an icon on the Home Page which takes visitors to the page. I have now read it. If I put the tawk.to "chat" feature on I will adjust the policy and clear it with you first. Here is the icon: [​IMG]
