The addition of Captcha to invitations and sign-ups has seen push back from the members. It was hard enough to get them to respond but now they are using CAPTCHA as another excuse not to use ClubRunner as a tool. This may sound strange but teaching old (and some very old) dogs new tricks is not easy. 25% non-compliance!!

    Hello Damien,

Thank you for posting this, it's a legitimate observation. We have had other users call us and inquire why we need to do this now.

This is due to new worldwide regulations called "GDPR". Essentially this is an initiative to help all web users maintain their privacy online, but particularly citizens of the EU. In the past we've had users let us know they were not aware their information was being stored online, to please remove it, etc. These new laws aim to provide end-users more transparency and control over what personal data gets saved, and where.

Just a note that not just ClubRunner but most major companies must be compliant: Facebook ,Google, RI, etc. Non-compliance could result in serious legal action:
    https://www.theverge.com/2018/5/25/17393766/facebook-google-gdpr-lawsuit-max-schrems-europe

You can read more about ClubRunner and GDPR here:
    https://site.clubrunner.ca/page/gdpr-and-clubrunner

For any users who are upset and want a short-form version: "these new laws are aimed to respect an individual's privacy, and to make online data collection more transparent." If any member has issue with this, please do ask them to call or email us, we're happy to speak with them.

Note that while we are GDPR compliant, we seek any feedback you may have. We are always ready to explore the balance between a happy user experience and compliance of the law.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks Mickey. This is good to know and I will try to appease the members, however their demands are always for more simplicity and ease of use. Many are happy to admit that they are not computer savvy and what may seem simple to many of us is not as apparent to them.

    Hi Damien,

This won't circumvent GDPR, the checkboxes will still be there, but does your Club already know they can register for events using our CR mobile app?

    Info about our app:
    https://www.clubrunnersupport.com/article/1399-video-clubrunner-mobile-app-for-clubs-district

As a bonus - through our user experiences during the past PETS conferences and the International RI conference, we've found several 'novice' users comment that they appreciated the simplicity and ease of use of the app.

Mickey, I did not know that myself. I just tried it and it worked without CAPTCHA. Great stuff
