When you include in your Home Page or Bulletin designs, the Custom Pages or Bulletin Pages (Home Page and Bulletin designers respectively) Widgets, the result appears to be just a link to each page specified within the widget.
I was expecting the content of that page.
In other words, I am trying to include the contents of a Custom page within either the Home Page or a Bulletin.
    Have I missed something obvious?
    Thank you

    Hi Ian,

You're not missing anything in this case. Those widgets are intended to help provide a quick list of their pages content. They will not allow you to embed content from one page to another.

Can you show me an example of what you were looking to do, and we can see what options we have available to meet your needs!

    Thanks.

    Thanks Mickey.
I tried to do this to overcome the display of Calendar Events in the bulletin which is quite narrow and lacks option to display images. This is different to the Home Page widget for Events.
I could see that you can specify a Custom Page in the Bulletin Pages widget. So, I created a custom page https://portal.clubrunner.ca/5430/page/bulletin-events You'll get the idea of where I was heading.
Then I added it to the Bulletin Pages Widget - see test bulletin at https://portal.clubrunner.ca/5430/bulletin/View/0ed3aecc-e418-4f80-893f-c1c4d00161ef
Instead of seeing the contents of the page, all I get is a link. Of course, the same happens with the Home Page but it's better to demonstrate in a test bulletin which I can keep hidden.

I have overcome this display issue in the bulletin by using a template with 2 columns in the middle - Responsive Header Full Top Left Sidebar Bottom
    https://portal.clubrunner.ca/5430/bulletin/View/a5f8eba3-5aee-4c73-9b3c-40fdf2ae1998
So you'll see I am pulling in Events in the LH column and speakers in the right. Works ok but would prefer my custom page as it would better display the events.

So, it appears that the inclusion of a custom page via Custom Pages (for Home Page) or Bulletin Pages (for Bulletins) widgets just displays a link to the page.
When you say "provide a quick list of their pages content" it's not so much the content of any page but the content of the widget in terms of the pages included in the widget, I get it.

In fact, it's really only the "Built In" pages, and stories that appear to display their contents. Site page widget is displaying links. Custom widgets display their contents of course, but they're not pages.

Whilst it doesn't change the fact that these page widgets don't actually create a page to be displayed within a Home Page or Bulletin, I wonder if we could consider the format of the Events widget in the Bulletin? It is a pretty unattractive list, compared to the Home Page Events widget. Perhaps an option to display an image?

    Thanks, Ian

    Hi Ian,

    Thank you for following up.

There are a number of "homepage" widgets, and for page widgets. In the case for Site Pages, Custom Pages, Photo Albums for the Homepage/Bulletin, these widgets are intended as navigation type widgets. A reasonably quick way to have a collection of links for its own content type.

It would not be possible to embed content from a custom page directly into a Bulletin. Even if it were possible, those pages content would be unlikely to be displayed correctly in emails. Email clients support a very narrow sub-set of html and css and absolutely no JavaScript.

I will let our Product team know you'd like to see improvements to the Upcoming Events list for the Bulletin. Are there any other specific types of improvements you'd like to see aside from images from the events?
