Is there a way for us to create a pointer/link to another club's calendar event/items on our calendar? Essentially, allowing us to highlight other events in the community that are worth mentioning. I know that we could create an item manually, but this is not a good practice in case event information is updated on the sister club site.

Has anyone found a way to do this successfully?

    Hi David,

While there isn't a way to do it automatically Cloud Events would allow you to create this reference pointer. One of the abilities for Cloud Events is to make either the entire event page itself, or its register button, navigate out to an external website. Cloud Events is a Nova feature that we brought to ClubRunner earlier than other parts of Nova.

You would be able to create a cloud event, enter the general details like date, time, etc, and when you arrive at the landing page option, you enter the external URL that people should visit. When anyone attempts to click on the cloud events link, they will be taken to the intended website, instead of the cloud events page itself.

So now on the website, when I click the Event link, it will go directly to google.com. I don't have a good way to capture a video here, but clicking on the Event Name in the screenshot below takes me directly to the Public Event Page.

I'm not sure if we would be able to fully automate any sort of additions like this, at least externally, but it is an interesting concept and I have shared this feedback for consideration in future updates.

I would like to propose that. The event information is already in CR and it would be really beneficial to create a pass-through effect. Clubs could then have a pass-through of their district events on the club calendar. Keeping things simple is great for members. And having one calendar that shows club and district events would be great. And then allowing us to bring in links from other clubs would be icing!

The good news is that this is the direction we are working towards! We are looking at exposing more events at more levels of the system as part of Nova and future updates. We would like to allow districts to push events down to clubs, just like we want clubs to be able to push events up to districts. In both cases, the intent would be that the district and the club can override the others choice to suppress an event that they don't want shown on their respective calendars.

We’ve already made some good progress on exposing more events within the mobile app. You will find an All Events feed, that brings events from your own club, other clubs in your area, and the district's events as well. As long as they are subscribers, and or make use of the district’s website.

As of today you have the tools to go create Cloud Events with that external page link and get this functionality, just not automatically!

Yes, absolutely agree, calendar sharing needs to be both ways, but this absolutely needs to be done automatically, not by clubs having to adjust their settings or for members having to hunt for specific feeds. ie,
    • Linking Club calendar events to the District calendar automatically using ClubRunner (right now apparently there is an 'opt in' option where clubs can do this... however it's defaulted to 'off'. We'd suggest that the default would be set to 'on').
    • Linking District calendar events to Club calendars automatically using ClubRunner (Default opt in should be set to 'on'. Districts could turn it 'off' for any events which don't need to be shared, and clubs could turn off any specific events which they don't want to display on their website)
