Understanding "Likes" on the Social Media Bar and a Story/News page

    Yesterday was the first time I discovered that the Like thumbs up button had been recorded. A couple of weeks ago I learned the "Star" is also a like button. That is when I started adding the instruction as encouragement.

    Is the Like button above the Facebook icon recorded when I place a story and news page onto a Facebook page? If I place the story on many Facebook pages is the Like on the Social Media Bar an aggregation of all of the Facebook likes? If I also place the story on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Pinterest are those likes also added in?

    Regarding the "star" as a like. It appears this is only available to members of the club. Since it is anonymous why can it not be made available to everyone?
